We are Carmen and Niko. Carmen is 23 years old and Niko is 20. we are sisters, born and bred in Essex, England.
We have moved around Essex a fair amount, and done short stints of living in London.
We now live with our Mum in Essex and work full time day jobs to help pay off "travel debt" as we so fondly call it, and
try to make new money to go out to New York with.
Our first visit to the city was in 2004, where we met up with our friends. Since then, we have visited a further 3 times,
all this year as we have realised how happy it makes us to be out there. We feel at HOME there. We rent a beautiful apartment
on St. Marks Place in the east Village and spend our days napping there or eating ice cream in the park. You can also catch
us venturing to Times Square and Central Park on occasion too.
Over the past year we have built up a large group of friends in the city. Therefore, not only do we have the bright lights,
the vibrant atmosphere, the smell of the delicious types of food cooking on every corner, the gorgeous parks, the culture,
the hospital night life, the beautiful apartment we rent to miss, we also have people whom we love to hang out with to miss
too.
We work regular day jobs at 40+ hours a week. We grab every bit of over time we can get our hands on, yet somehow its still
never quite enough to pay accomodation, flights and spending money without running into the red.
We are not begging, we realise that you could go and sponser say...an orphan or an elephant and it would be money better
spent. We are not discouraging you from doing that. All we ask is that if you do have a small amount of money to spare to
us to help us out, we are more than greatful for it.
We love to have fun with our polaroid camera and write letters, so each time you send a donation, upon our next trip we
will send you an original polaroid of us taken in NYC and a handwritten letter telling you all about it.
